September 11, 2019 - Eighteen years ago MBMovers was struggling to get started. We had moved to Flushing, New York, Howell and Fairlawn, New Jersey, and northwest Arkansas. I called C & G Auto on 3rd Avenue South in Myrtle Beach to talk about a rental truck. I had been renting trucks and doing move jobs. Gary, the owner, told me to turn on my television. He told me about the events in New York and elsewhere. The rest of that day was like January 28, 1986 when the space shuttle Challenger exploded over Florida. Incredulity ruled the next few days. Over the next few months I would drive a ‘25 Penske truck to Temecula, California, and purchase my first company vehicle, a KIA Spectrum.
August 12, 2019 - This is why it is a good idea to cease work in a storm.
June 25, 2019 - New home sales dropped 7.8% in May despite big drop in mortgage rates according to a CNBC article today by Diana Olick. I noticed a mid-month lull in May and again in June. The middle of the month is typically slower in average months, but to have a virtual hiatus in May and June midway is concerning. I felt it. Matter of fact this June will be the 4th best June of the last 4 years of June. Know what I mean?
June 12, 2019 - FYI. AAA members save 12% on truck rental and moving supplies.
June 8, 2019 - This Saturday after 6 hot hours of soaked sweating - it began to rain. And rain hard. Sideways, in fact - with lightning. NOTICE: ladies and gentlemen, there comes a point in bad weather when we stop working. I know that is a surprise to some folks, but even football games are called on bad weather. Read our policy regarding ugly weather. We ended up donating over $500 in labor and then ceased for the day. Customer became ugly. She and 8 of her friends wrote fake Google reviews. This is why we have a stated policy.
May 20, 2019 - This is our renewal of the Horry County Business License 2019. The background color changes each year. I wonder who decides which color to use each year. Probably the County Treasurer. You’ll find this and other business documents under a link on the HOME page.
May 16, 2019 - Check out this cool way of communicating to the public.
May 11, 2019 - Tomorrow is Mothers Day. Of course, my mother was involved in helping me get this service off the ground. She was instrumental in many worthwhile things I’ve done in my life. When I first started this moving labor service Mom provided some financing for some classified ads in the local newspaper. She also volunteered to mail this flyer to folks holding a “Moving Sale” or “Yard Sale.” The mailer copy on the right here is dated Spring 2002. Pretty soon I was in a local telephone book. Then, I knew things were going to start happening. Thanks to Moms everywhere. We have moved lots of moms into skilled nursing facilities and elsewhere.
April 18, 2019 - Population soars for Horry County. Good for movers.
April 5, 2019 - When considering which size truck to rent always be willing to have more space than needed. It is better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it - just like insurance. Today’s customer had a Uhaul truck which was too small, so then went out and attached a Uhaul trailer which was too small also. Shaking their heads they ended up leaving some items with a neighbor.
April 1, 2019 - We have developed a short biography for owner, Patrick Larkin Hill. You can read it and see some family photos, and learn how he got into this moving business. PatrickLHill.Com
March 29, 2019 - Sometimes we are asked to provide labor for an eviction. This video is one which took place at Sun Colony off Hwy. 9 in Longs, SC.
February 28, 2019 - You can trust the customer reviews on this moving company website because they are done in GoPro video, but a study shows that many reviews are fake on retail websites. Negative reviews on Google, Bing, Yelp, and Yahoo can simply be vindictive jabs by social-media users. When they disagree with you they go on a public forum and pose. Nothing will set you up for failure more than fake reviews; that’s why we use video. Check out our written recommendations also.
February 14, 2019 - Tonight the Sky Wheel is lit up in pink and red. Picture by Robbie Bischoff.
February 8, 2019 - Got this Google review last night.
February 1, 2019 - This is a long-lost letter of appreciation from my old website: “We’ve had many movers over the years, and through all of them we’ve never had more careful or more efficient movers. We highly recommend Myrtle Beach Movers to anyone who is seeking professional and very personable personnel for their next move” says Jack and Diane Marsch on April 4, 2005.
January 11, 2019 - Our condolences to the family of Benjamin Thomas (Tommy) Bruton Jr. (1957 - 2019) of Conway, SC. He moved to a new home on January 11, 2019. He ran Chavis Moving & Storage. Call his son Matt for superior care when you need a trucking mover and full service. -MORE-
January 2, 2019 - Happy New Year folks! Uhaul just released figures for 2018 for US states receiving most inbound moves with truck rental and it looks like Texas is #1, Florida #2, and South Carolina #3 (up from 4). Read -MORE-. Looking forward to prosperous new year.
December 18, 2018 - Tax Cuts and Jobs Act – Changes to Moving Expense Deductions As a result of the recently passed Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, job-related moving expenses will no longer be deductible on an individual’s federal income tax return. This new legislation will go into effect for tax years after December 31, 2017 and before January 1, 2026. Therefore, although this will not affect the filing of 2017 tax returns, it is important to understand the new tax code’s impact for the 2018 tax year. There is an exception: any active duty members of the military will be able to deduct required moving expenses under both the current and 2018 tax codes. -MORE-
December 17, 2018 - Today we are posting a review from last Thursday at SmartStorage Hwy 501 - Conway. Karen Oswald reviews us at storage facility in Conway.
November 27, 2018 - Today we performed a “Put Out.” That is an eviction by owner or property management company where Horry County Deputy is present so that the owner can reclaim the property. In this case, the local company, CCPM, paid us two hours to load her trucks and then two hours to put the rest of the stuff on the curb or driveway. It was kind of CCPM to help them get out. Obviously, this was a hoarder situation. Anyone can take anything at this point for a day or two, and then the owner can dispose of the carnage and begin to prepare the property for re-inhabitation. Below is the slideshow of this same property from different angles. call Myrtle Beach Movers® Company to perform your eviction put-out.
November 26, 2018 - We hope you enjoyed your Thanksgiving holiday. Today we got a new review at Cape Landing Apartments.
November 6, 2018 - Today I have the answer to your question “Is this a local company?” In short “Yes.” I am Patrick Larkin Hill. I was named after my mother's maternal grandfather, and his name was Shephard Larkin Purvis, born & buried in Coumbus County, NC 1877–1946. His father was Henry Purvis 1831–1904, born & buried in Fairmont, Robeson County, NC [(Son of James Purvis and Obedience "Beedy" Loe) no years given]. Henry Purvis was married to Harriet Newel Hedgpeth Purvis 1839–1911, whose father was Arthur Hedgepeth 1811–1891. Arthur was the son of John Hedgpeth 9-11-1757 Bladen County, NC & 10-15-1818 Robeson County, NC and Sarah Nicholson 1751 Robeson Co, NC. The year 1751 is when President James Madison was born.
October 31, 2018 - Everybody needs to know this bit of information. Weight distribution matters. This could save you from an accident. Ask me how I know. No, it didn’t happen to me though. It happened to my father, and as a result of the wreck they had to cut a square out of his skull to fix something on his brain. The bone patch was restored after the procedure, but the missing bone around the cut made the bone patch fit in deeper.
September 29, 2018 - Looks like the housing market is slowing according to a CNBC article. The moving business can feel it when this happens. It makes for a long winter sometimes.
September 10, 2018 - One year ago Hurricane Irma hit the Florida Keys. In two days Myrtle Beach, South Carolina will know the plight of Hurricane Florence. We will do our last job Tuesday September 11, 2018 at about noon prior to landfall, so that our people can take due diligence and safety from the threat of storm. Due diligence - that is what we take when contemplating the move of a unique or special piece of furniture. Each of us is unique and requires due diligence. Take care.
August 14, 2018 - Planning a move to Myrtle Beach? Call Patrick at 843-663-2942. If you are leaving Myrtle Beach and you would like your truck or PODS container unloaded in another city, then go to Uhaul.Com and click on "Moving Labor." Find a service provider with a track record of good ratings that services your neighborhood, or check out Nextdoor.com for a referral.
July 19, 2018 - If you have a business or website suggestion that would mean the difference of you choosing this service or not, then please send it to Patrick Hill at MBMovers@Yahoo.Com For example, send me a message telling me why you chose to go with a different service instead of us. We care about what you care about.
July 17, 2018 - Rainy weather ruined our plans to work today, and it ruined a customer's plans as well. This work is too dangerous and your furniture too nice to ruin our earning capacity for weeks or your goods. When it is raining sideways there is no work to be had. Period. Of course, the best plans are subject to the weather. Working in the rain is a "no-good-deed-goes-unpunished" proposition. We will be on the safe side.
July 2, 2018 - Came home to discover another fake review on Google. We get good real reviews and we thrive off good tip$. I do not know who is doing this, but I do know that my local move Myrtle Beach industry is cutthroat. Scurrilous 2017 reviews from my neighbor with the 4 barking dogs and her animal mafia friends have brought my Google rating down to 3.1, but guess what? The local Better Business Bureau has a 2.3 rating. SMH. Real reviews are done in video format on my Reviews page, or you can read the written ones going back to 2003.
June 5, 2018 - It is summer and we cannot physically come out to look at your situation prior to your appointment, so please bear fidelity to the description of your job when we speak over the phone. In order to properly staff a job and budget our stamina throughout the workday you must tell us the good, bad, and the ugly. For example, don't forget to mention that you are on the 3rd floor. Don't confuse a '15 Penske truck with a '25 Penske truck. Don't minimize the job for the purpose of getting us to start your job at 2pm. LOL. Deception will not work here.
June 4, 2018 - One of the best places to move is Myrtle Beach, SC. Two of the best places to leave is Illinois and California. Are you moving to Myrtle Beach SC?
May 21, 2018 - How much does it cost to hire movers to load my rental truck? A yellow '26 Penske diesel may take from 2.5 to 4 hours to load and 75% of that same time to unload. Larger items displaces the space quicker and shoe boxes will take much longer, especially if any distance to the truck is in play. Get a '20 Uhaul truck loaded in 1.5 hours or 2. As you can see, a load and unload local relocation is a 3.5 to 6 hour proposition. We are $90/hour with a $150 minimum in nearby areas, or $90/hour with a multiple hours minimum in other areas.
May 20, 2018 - Here's a little news page we operate on Facebook with over 12,000 subscribers.
May 15, 2018 - They book up well ahead, but if you need the business model that includes the TRUCK - I recommend Two Men & A Truck in Conway, SC.
May 14, 2018 - First thing 9am job we loaded this 6 foot several hundred pounds gun safe into this Uhaul rental truck.
May 11, 2018 - We are loading up the second truck of Catherine Wiggins Monday the 14th for free in honor of mothers. We wish to alleviate the expense of helping moms. My mother is 86. I thank her for preparing me, helping me, praying for me, and loving me.
May 3, 2018 - New apartments coming called The Mosby Carolina Forest.
May 2, 2018 - Just got a call from a previous customer. Here is what they said 6 years ago: "Just a note of thanks for helping us move not once but twice. Not knowing anyone in Myrtle Beach to help us we took a chance on you in May 2012 to help us unload a truck at our new apartment and a storage rental unit. We were so grateful for the help. We again used you November 2012 to move from the storage unit and apartment to our new home. Your prices were and still are very fair. Your work ethic of your team is wonderful. The fact that you showed up both times and even on time sure made everything easier for us. I would highly recommend your company, Myrtle Beach Movers to anyone." Patty and Scott Moyer in Myrtle Beach, SC. Patty made a video for me on the Reviews page.
Also, today we are happy to be loading in Myrtle Beach at Alta Surf Apartments and unloading in Leland NC. FYI: We like that area so much that we own the domains WilmingtonMovers.Com and BrunswickNC.Net
May 1, 2018 - At C & G Auto in Myrtle Beach, SC you can rent the yellow Penske truck. One of the differences between a Penske truck and a Uhaul truck is that the yellow Penske truck's cargo size comes from it's measurement on the floor of the storage box area, while the Uhaul size comes from the ceiling measurement and 3 feet of that is the cab-over area also known as Grandma's Attic. The 20' Penske holds more storage than the 20' Uhaul.
April 30, 2018 - Today we launched this new website at MyrtleBeachMovers.Com.
